Donald Trump is a Very Bad Man

OCTOBER 31, 2019 | PAULA WRAY

What I'm about to say is quite obvious to most Americans, while a stubborn minority continues to support him to the detriment of the country and the earth! The disconnect constantly astounds and infuriates me!

From the day he rode down that infernal escalator, besmirched a war hero, and blasted innocent immigrants coming to our country, we entered a never-ending twilight zone where hordes inexplicably adore Donald Trump. It seems that no amount of logic or facts can defeat the magnitude of propoganda, ignorance, and racism overwhelming our country.

Who to Believe

How can you discern the truth from the multitude of news sources on television, radio, online, in podcasts, and the chatter at your social gatherings? It comes down to your education, critical thinking, open mindedness, and common sense. I trust a news source that has a track record of getting it right and a willingness to investigate and "out" their own staff when they go awry. Who can forget the firing of CBS veteran anchor Dan Rather in 2004 for reading a report critical of George Bush's Air National Guard service or Brian Williams being fired from his job as anchor of NBC News in 2015 for exaggerating a personal experience. While I feel that both of these punishments were too severe, they demonstrated to me the high standards of these news organizations.

I choose to consume my news from the center. My daily choices are USA Today, The New York Times, and PennLive. I listen to Slate's the Gist. Here are other trusted centrist news organizations - Reuters, Associated Press, C-Span, PBS News, NBC News, CBS News, ABC News, Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and there are many others.

Another point to keep in mind is separating analysis and opinion from news. Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson are not reading the news. Chris Wallace does deliver the news but only the part that Fox News allows supporting their conservative viewpoint.

Still not sure what to believe when you spot an inflammatory Facebook post? Try the respected Fact Checkers at Politifact or Snopes.

What has Trump done wrong?

His horrendous statements and acts occur daily.

Liar in Chief

Trump speaks the full truth 5% of the time according to Politifact.

Fact-checkers are constantly adding to the tally for this habitual liar. Why would anyone believe a word he says at this point?. As of October 9, 2019 he has lied 14,435 times.

Sociopath

A sociopath is defined as a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience. As of October 24, 2019, Trump has taken 4,200 children from there parents seeking asylum at the border. I rest my case. If you are ok with that, I do not want to know you.

Fake Christian

According to the Holy Bible, Jesus would not turn away strangers, put children in cages, tell lies, grab women "by the pussy," harm the poor, or advocate for carrying arms. Jesus asks us to love our neighbor as ourselves. So why have Christians embraced a man who shows no sign of living a Christian life? Could it be a deal with the devil in exchange for taking away abortion rights?

Terrible businessman

Trump was elected based on his alleged business prowess. But his myriad business failures, bankruptcies, and underhanded business dealings have been well publicized.

Not helping the economy

Trillion dollar debt! Trade wars! Producing his campaign goods in other countries. Here are just a couple of the recent news stories:

The Trump economy is hurting most Americans.

Trump is losing on the economy.

Harming the earth

Trump is working overtime to overturn everything Obama supported to protect the earth. What does he care if the planet is uninhabitable for his grandchildren? He's only concerned with himself.

Comparison to Clinton and Obama

Here is the excuse Trump followers constantly produce when confronted with Trump wrongdoing. "What about Hillary" or "What about Obama?" President Obama and Senator Clinton were extremely capable, principled, and upstanding politicians who served this country without any hint of scandal that wasn't fiction. But what do they have to do with the malfeasance of Donald Trump? "What about-ism" is a childish comeback in defending a crooked, incompetent leader.
